Peanuts
Peanuts are grown in the southwest and south central areas of the
state. Due to the arid climate, nearly two-thirds of the peanuts
grown are irrigated. Oklahoma peanut producers grow one-million
pounds on average each year. Oklahoma ranks in the top two states
in the production of Spanish peanuts and in the top five of runners.
A fun fact about peanuts: two American presidents were peanut farmers
Thomas Jefferson and Jimmy Carter.
