Wheat
Wheat is grown in all 77 counties in Oklahoma. Hard Red Winter
Wheat, the primary class of wheat, is produced on over six million
acres across the state. Winter wheat also serves as pasture to produce
many millions of pounds of beef during the winter months. It takes
nine seconds for a combine to harvest enough Oklahoma wheat for
70 loaves of bread. One Oklahoma family can live 10 years off of
bread produced by one acre of wheat.
