A message from the author:

Throughout the past few months, I have had the opportunity to travel around the state of Oklahoma to visit with our nine Farm and Ranch Family Recognition recipients and hear their stories of perseverance, tradition and dedication. From traveling near the Talimena Byway to the flatlands of western Oklahoma, our state becomes a quiet, moving backdrop to the stories that shape who we are.

Sitting down with each recognized farm and ranch family allowed me the opportunity to learn of the diverse directions each family went with their operation. From agritourism to rebuilding a generational ranch to utilizing their operation as an opportunity to be an agricultural ambassador, each family finds a strong passion that keeps their eyes set on farming and ranching.

While each family may go different directions with their operation, for all, family is at the center of their operations. Whether that is to continue what those have done before them, or to leave a lasting legacy for those who come next, each generation continues to build on the foundation of continuing the family legacy.

It was a privilege to sit down with all nine of our Farm and Ranch Family Recognition recipients to hear their stories and what drives them to continue, and it is my honor to share their stories with you. Each story shows why this award is rooted in tradition.
