OKFB praises attorney general for defending wage determination process

Oklahoma Farm Bureau applauds Attorney General Gentner Drummond for his efforts to uphold Oklahoma’s constitutional process to determine fair wages through his opposition to Initiative Petition 446, which would be put to a vote of the people as State Question 832. Drummond filed a brief Thursday with the Oklahoma Supreme Court in support of the OKFB Legal Foundation’s challenge to Initiative Petition 446, which would establish the state question to raise minimum wage. OKFB Foundation for Agriculture awards local schools with $10,000 greenhouse grants

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture recently selected Roland Public Schools and Navajo Public Schools to receive the $10,000 Growing with the Foundation grant. The Growing with the Foundation grant is designed to help students learn about agriculture through assisting schools with the purchase of a teaching greenhouse. “We are proud to award Roland and Navajo Public Schools with the Growing with the Foundation grant,” said David VonTungeln, OKFB Foundation for Agriculture president. “As our society becomes further removed from the farm, we appreciate the commitment these schools have to teaching their students about where their food comes from.” […]

OKFB Legal Foundation files court protest to protect Oklahoma’s agricultural and rural economies

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Legal Foundation joined efforts with The State Chamber to file a protest with the state’s highest court Monday, Nov. 20 against Initiative Petition 446, which would establish a state question to raise Oklahoma’s minimum wage. The initiative seeks to double the minimum wage by 2029 and increase it annually beginning in 2030 based on the Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers. This change would remove the responsibility of determining a minimum wage from the Oklahoma legislature and instead tie it to national economic projections that do not accurately reflect Oklahoma’s economy. “Taking […]

OKFB hosts successful 82nd annual meeting

OKFB members elect new, returning leaders at 2023 annual meeting

Oklahoma Farm Bureau members elected and re-elected several leaders during the organization’s annual meeting Nov. 10-12 in Oklahoma City. Rodd Moesel was re-elected to serve his final two-year term as OKFB president. Moesel has served as OKFB president since 2017. Leon Richards of Texas County was re-elected to serve a three-year term as District Three director. Richards will represent Cimarron, Texas, Beaver, Harper, Ellis, Woodward and Dewey Counties.
