Emily Smith joins OKFB communications department as summer intern

June 1, 2020

Emily Smith has joined the Communications and Public Relations division at Oklahoma Farm Bureau as the summer communications intern beginning May 26.

Smith is a senior studying agricultural communications at Oklahoma State University and is originally from Elk City, Oklahoma. Being a fifth-generation agriculturalist, Smith’s roots run deep in Oklahoma agriculture. Her involvement includes assisting in her family’s farm and small cattle operation, as well as actively being involved in the livestock industry beginning at the age of nine.

“What I am most excited about interning at Oklahoma Farm Bureau is the opportunity I have to expand my overall knowledge and understanding of Oklahoma agriculture,” Smith said. “Even though I have been surrounded by agriculture all my life, I know there is much more to learn and Farm Bureau is a great place to start.”

Smith will provide technical and creative support in the OKFB Communications and Public Relations Division while gaining valuable workplace experience. Some of her specific duties include writing feature and news articles, assisting with social media management, taking and editing photographs, and assisting with the management and updating of OKFB’s websites.
