OKFB announces break out speakers for 72nd Annual Meeting

October 1, 2013

For our break-out sessions, Oklahoma Farm Bureau is happy to have Evelyn Browning Garriss and Jim McCarthy as speakers.

Evelyn Browning Garriss will be speaking on historical climatology. Browning Garriss is a historical climatologist who advises everyone from Texas cattle raisers to Midwestern utilities and Canadian banks about what the coming season will bring.

She has spent over 30 years as a business consultant, editor and author explaining the impact of changing climate on economic and social trends. Editor of the Browning Newsletter, Evelyn has authored or co-authored five books on the changing climate’s impact on water supplies, agriculture, business and terrorism.

Our second break-out session speaker is Jim McCarthy, Vice President of Advanced Estate and Business Markets for Farm Bureau Financial Services, and a member of the Parker Simons & McNeill PLC law firm.  His special areas of expertise include estate tax, business succession planning and charitable gifting strategies for a family owned business, farm or ranch.

Jim joined Farm Bureau in 1992. Jim grew up on a farm in Washington, Iowa; he received his Business and Finance Degree from the University of Notre Dame (BBA 1972) and his Law Degree from Creighton University (JD 1976).  He has earned several financial and insurance designations: CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter), ChFC (Chartered Financial Consultant) and MSFS (Master of Science Financial Services).
