OKFB awarded with 2021 AFBF New Horizon Award, Awards of Excellence

January 9, 2022

Oklahoma Farm Bureau was recognized for outstanding programs and events with an American Farm Bureau New Horizon award and four state awards of excellence at the 2022 AFBF annual meeting in Atlanta Jan. 9.

The OKFB/Oklahoma 4-H ATV Safety Facility was honored as one of the most innovative new Farm Bureau programs in the nation with an AFBF New Horizon award. OKFB earned AFBF Awards of Excellence for outstanding Farm Bureau achievements in four out of four program areas: Advocacy, Coalitions & Partnerships, Engagement & Outreach, and Leadership & Business Development.

“Our farmers and ranchers put in countless hours of work for our grassroots organization throughout the year, and I am proud to see our members’ efforts recognized,” said Rodd Moesel, OKFB president. “We look forward to continuing growing our organization and programs to improve the lives of Oklahomans.”

The ATV Safety Facility was opened in mid-2020 to provide Oklahomans of all ages with a hands-on safety course to teach safe ATV riding habits, especially to Oklahoma’s youth. The program facility is centrally located in the state near the Logan County Fairgrounds in Guthrie.

The safety facility educated more than 280 youth from across the state during 41 training courses throughout the first year. The two training facility staff secured a grant allowing them to provide 100 free helmets to those participating in the course.
