OKFB’s Spring 2018 Oklahoma Country now available online

The latest issue of Oklahoma Country, Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s quarterly magazine, arrived in mailboxes last week and is now available for viewing online. The Spring 2018 issue features two Oklahoma farmers – Cody Goodknight of Chattanooga and Joe Mayer of Guymon – who share the importance of Oklahoma’s agriculture sales tax exemption and its impact on today’s farm economy. OKFB members visit Capitol Hill, federal agencies on Congressional Action Tour April 16-20

More than 30 Oklahoma Farm Bureau members advocated for agriculture and rural Oklahoma in the nation’s capital during the organization’s Congressional Action Tour April 16-20. “It’s very important for Oklahoma farmers to develop relationships with our congressmen and senators,” said Rodd Moesel, OKFB president. “Our Farm Bureau staff talk to these leaders on our behalf, which is a big help to us as farmers and ranchers. Nine students receive $1,000 YF&R college scholarships

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers committee has awarded nine high school seniors, one from each OKFB district, with a $1,000 college scholarship. “Our scholarship recipients give us great hope for agriculture’s future in every part of this state,” said Brent Howard, OKFB YF&R chairman. “As fellow young farmers and ranchers, the OKFB YF&R committee is proud to support these young scholars as they develop into leaders in the agriculture industry.”  The nine scholarship recipients are listed below, along with a link to an individual press release. Comments wanted: Tell USTR to negotiate a better deal for America’s farmers and ranchers

Oklahoma Farm Bureau members are invited to encourage the U.S. Trade Representative to negotiate a better deal on behalf of America’s farmers and ranchers during a public comment period on trade dispute with China. American farmers and ranchers are already facing low commodity prices and the uncertainty of a ‘trade war’ drives prices even lower hurting farmers and ranchers and rural communities. Commodity prices will fall as both sides ratchet the trade dispute upward. Raspotnik-Jones joins OKFB field services

Oklahoma Farm Bureau has hired Penny Raspotnik-Jones as its southeastern field representative. In her position, Raspotnik-Jones will work as a liaison between county Farm Bureaus and the state Farm Bureau. She will serve members in Atoka, Bryan, Coal, Choctaw, Haskell, Hughes, Latimer, LeFlore, McCurtain, McIntosh, Pittsburg and Pushmataha Counties.  A cattle rancher from Hartshorne, Oklahoma, Raspotnik-Jones and her family raise registered and commercial Angus cattle. “As a third-generation rancher, I am passionate about agriculture,” Raspotnik-Jones said. “If I can help another agriculture producer in my Farm Bureau role, then I feel that I have accomplished something truly important.” Raspotnik-Jones earned […]

Two OKFB members to be honored with Governor’s Excellence in Agriculture Awards April 10

Keith Kisling of Burlington and Jimmy Kinder of Walters will be honored with Governor’s Excellence in Agriculture Awards April 10, as announced today by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry. The awards will be presented during a special ceremony hosted by ODAFF and sponsored by the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives April 10 at 2 p.m. in the state Capitol. The public is invited to attend the ceremony held as part of the state’s annual Oklahoma Ag Day celebration. OKFB names Doye executive director

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau board of directors Wednesday announced Thad Doye has been se|ected to serve as the farm organization’s new executive director. Doye will lead OKFB’s staff, overseeing the day-to-day operations of Oklahoma’s largest general farm organization. “We are excited to have a lifelong Oklahoma farmer and rancher serving Oklahoma Farm Bureau as our executive director,” OKFB President Rodd Moesel said. “Thad brings with him decades of experience in agriculture, Farm Bureau, and a servant’s heart that we know will help him build and grow our organization to better serve our state’s farming and ranching families.” Doye was chosen […]

OKFB sponsors ag youth at 2018 OYE Sale of Champions

Oklahoma Farm Bureau helped support the state’s agriculture youth by purchasing more than $43,000 in premiums at the 2018 Oklahoma Youth Expo Sale of Champions held Friday, March 16 in Oklahoma City. Before the sale, OKFB was honored as the 2017 volume buyer for purchasing the most premiums at the 2017 sale. Travel to Washington, D.C. with Farm Bureau April 16-20

March 19, 2018

Oklahoma Farm Bureau members will travel to Washington, D.C., April 16-20 to promote agriculture and rural Oklahoma during the organization’s annual Congressional Action Tour. The weeklong trip allows members to bring the concerns of Oklahoma farmers and ranchers to Capitol Hill. Members will meet with Oklahoma’s Congressional delegation, along with officials of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
