OKFB honored for excellence

January 13, 2019

Oklahoma Farm Bureau was honored with four Awards of Excellence at the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 100th Annual Convention held Jan. 11-16 in New Orleans, Louisiana. The awards recognized excellence in implementation of outstanding member programs and membership achievement in 2018. The Awards of Excellence were awarded to state Farm Bureaus that demonstrated outstanding achievements in four program areas. OKFB earned awards in all four categories including Advocacy; Engagement and Outreach; Leadership and Business Development; and Membership Value.  Find a full list of AFBF awards here. YF&R members to represent Oklahoma in AFBF competitive events

Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers members will compete in three competitive events at the upcoming American Farm Bureau Federation Annual Meeting Jan. 11-16 in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Washita County Farm Bureau members Nocona and Jordan Cook will compete in the AFBF YF&R Achievement Award competitive event, which recognizes young farmers and ranchers who have excelled in their farm or ranch and have honed their leadership abilities. Schwabauer named OKFB publications coordinator

Oklahoma Farm Bureau recently hired Brianne Schwabauer as the publications coordinator within the farm organization.  In her position, she will assist with both design and production of OKFB’s written publications, lay out print marketing materials, take photos, produce graphic designs for visual aids, and provide additional support for written content.  “Growing up in the Farm Bureau organization, I’ve seen first-hand what it can do for not only members, but their families as well,” Schwabauer said. “I’m looking forward to being a part of that and sharing the unique stories of Oklahoma Farm Bureau members.” Schwabauer joins the OKFB staff after […]

Join Gov.-Elect Stitt for preinaugural event in Lawton

Oklahoma Farm Bureau members are invited to attend Gov.-Elect Kevin Stitt’s preinaugural Bison Bash to be held Thursday, Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. at the Comanche County Fairgrounds Coliseum in Lawton. “Sarah and I are excited to kick off the inauguration festivities in Lawton,” Stitt said. “We hope you and your family will join us to celebrate the beginning of Oklahoma’s turnaround.” The celebration will feature a barbecue dinner with the governor-elect, first lady and statewide elected officials, along with live entertainment by country music artist Jimmie Allen. How the federal government shutdown is affecting Oklahoma agriculture

January 3, 2019

The Tulsa World newspaper this morning is featuring an article covering how the U.S. federal government shutdown is affecting Oklahoma farmers and ranchers. Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Rodd Moesel is quoted in the article, “There doesn’t seem to be too much kickback,” but notes that the longer the shutdown continues, the more likelihood there is that our state’s agriculturalists will feel a pinch. Moesel specifically cites as an example producers who are eligible to receive trade retaliation protection payments from the United States Department of Agriculture. OKFB chooses favorite photos of 2018

As we look back and reflect upon 2018, the Oklahoma Farm Bureau communications department has chosen 30 of its favorite photos taken throughout the year. Spanning photo shoots from across rural Oklahoma, the images showcase the efforts of Farm Bureau members, the hard work of our state’s farmers and ranchers and the beauty of rural Oklahoma. The images, accompanied by captions, are available to view in an online Flickr gallery. 

Farm Bureau applauds new Clean Water Rule proposal signed by EPA

State Farm Bureau presidents from across the nation, including Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Rodd Moesel, last week witnessed the signing of the proposed Clean Water Rule at the Environmental Protection Agency headquarters in Washington, D.C. Oklahoma Farm Bureau leaders from across the state will gather in Oklahoma City Feb. 18-19 for the organization’s annual OKFB Leadership Conference. Held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City, the two-day conference will feature state and federal agricultural policy updates, organizational updates, a reception with state leaders and lawmakers, a visit to the state Capitol and more.  Please contact your county Farm Bureau secretary to RSVP for the conference and to reserve a hotel room by no later than Jan. 16.
