Comanche County honored as Farm Bureau’s top county YF&R committee

The Comanche County Young Farmers and Ranchers committee was presented with the 2017 Charles L. Roff Award. The award was presented in Norman, Oklahoma, at the 2017 OKFB Annual Meeting Nov. 10. The Charles L. Hilton family honored as OKFB District One Farm and Ranch Family

The Hilton family of Gate, Oklahoma, received the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee District One Farm and Ranch Family Recognition during the organization’s 76th annual meeting on Friday, Nov. 10 in Norman, Oklahoma.  Britt and K’Dawn Hilton and their young sons Jax, age 6, and Cal, age 4, raise cattle, wheat and milo on the family’s farm in the Oklahoma panhandle. “We consider it a privilege to raise our kids in agriculture,” K’dawn Hilton said. Kennemer family honored as District Two Farm and Ranch Family

The Kennemer family of Carter, Oklahoma, received the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee District Two Farm and Ranch Family Recognition during the organization’s annual meeting on Friday, Nov. 10 in Norman.  Dale and Lori Kennemer, along with their children Bailey Kennemer and Derek and Levi Parker, have a diversified farm and ranch in Beckham County where they raise cattle and grow wheat, grain sorghum and alfalfa in a no-till production system. OKFB disappointed by state beef checkoff results

The following statement is in response to the results of the state beef checkoff referendum, which failed with 2,506 votes opposed and 1,998 votes in favor. Texas County member honored by OWRB for water conservation, innovative technology

Pat Long, a farmer and Texas County Farm Bureau member, was honored with a 2017 Water for 2060 Excellence Award for crop irrigation and agriculture by the Oklahoma Water Resources Board Nov. 1 during the Governor’s Water Conference in Norman, Oklahoma.  Long was recognized for his work to conserve water in the Oklahoma Panhandle using innovative center pivot technology, drought-resistant genetically modified crops and no-till production methods. “It’s important that people across the state understand the lengths Panhandle producers are going to in order to preserve a valuable natural resource,” Long said.  The Long family has farmed since the 1990s, […]

OKFB announces annual meeting trade show vendors

Oklahoma Farm Bureau will host a trade show alongside the organization’s 76th annual meeting held Nov. 10-12 in Norman, Oklahoma. Members attending the three-day convention are encouraged to visit the variety of exhibitors, ranging from jewelry to farm equipment and more.  The trade show will be open Friday, Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 11 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., located in the University Ballroom of the Embassy Suites Norman. OKFB to host educational breakout sessions during annual meeting

Oklahoma Farm Bureau members will have an opportunity to attend a variety of educational breakout sessions Nov. 10 during the organization’s 76th annual meeting in Norman, Oklahoma. OKFB, ag organizations respond to state beef checkoff legal challenge

The following statement is from a coalition of Oklahoma agriculture organizations who support the Oklahoma Beef Checkoff including Oklahoma Farm Bureau, American Farmers & Ranchers, Oklahoma Limousine Breeders Association, Oklahoma Maine Anjou Association, Oklahoma Charolais Association and Oklahoma Simmental Cattle Association. “The Oklahoma agriculture community is confident in the process used by cattle producers and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture in preparation for the upcoming referendum.
