Eighteen Oklahoma teachers were recently selected to receive a bushel basket of accurate agriculture books as part of Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Bushels for Books program. OKFB hosts 2024 High School Discussion Meet
Oklahoma Farm Bureau hosted the organization’s 2024 High School Discussion meet at Redlands Community College in El Reno Tuesday, Oct. 8. Nine students competed in two initial rounds of competition with the top four students competing in the final discussion meet round. The winners of the High School Discussion Meet were: first place, Heath Laubauch of Woodward FFA; second place, Coy Davidson of Elgin FFA; third place, Leaundre Delonia of Okmulgee FFA; and fourth place, Kalen Groves of Beggs FFA. Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture donates $10,000 for Hurricane Helene relief
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture has donated $10,000 to a number of state Farm Bureau relief efforts in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Relief efforts are in full force after the devastating hurricane hit parts of Florida, Georgia, North and South Carolina and Tennessee in late September. Anderson joins OKFB staff as new northeastern area field representative
Alisen Anderson of Fairland has joined Oklahoma Farm Bureau as northeastern field representative. In her new position, Anderson will assist 14 county Farm Bureaus in northeastern Oklahoma with programs, activities and operations as she serves as a liaison between the county organizations and the statewide OKFB organization. Anderson joins the OKFB staff after years of involvement in the organization as an active Farm Bureau member. OKFB names Westwood head of public policy, Milliman joins department
Oklahoma Farm Bureau has selected Kinsey Westwood to lead the organization’s public policy department as senior director of public policy, and has tapped Gage Milliman to join the policy department as a director of public policy. Westwood has served as OKFB’s Senior Public Policy Consultant since 2023 in addition to a previous stint with the organization from 2011-2012. In her new role, Westwood will oversee the advocacy efforts of Oklahoma’s largest general farm organization at the state legislature and through the rulemaking and regulatory processes. Cultivating Healthy Minds Session 2 Wrap-up
Oklahoma Farm Bureau members and guests continued their mental wellbeing journey with the second Cultivating Healthy Minds session Friday, Sept. 6. The session, focused on managing relationships, featured Monica McConkey, founder of Eyes on the Horizon Consulting. McConkey was raised on a farm and now has served 25 years working in the rural behavioral health field. She created Eyes on the Horizon Consulting in 2016 where she has been serving rural families in Minnesota. OKFB YF&R to host state fair livestock judging contest Sept. 19
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee is set to host the 2024 Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest Thursday, Sept. 19 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. The annual competition offers 4-H and FFA members the opportunity to exhibit their livestock judging skills in both market and breeding classes of beef, sheep and swine. While no oral reasons will be given during the competition, participants will be asked to answer at least one set of questions. OKFB WLC awards three scholarships to nursing students
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee has awarded three $500 scholarships to students from Farm Bureau member families who are pursuing a career in nursing. OKFB YF&R Shotgun Shoot raises more than $10,000 for OKFB Foundation for Agriculture
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers held their annual shotgun shoot fundraiser Friday, Aug. 9, at Silverleaf Shooting Sports in Guthrie. More than $10,000 was raised for the OKFB Foundation for Agriculture to continue to support Oklahoma agriculture and promote agriculture throughout the state. More than 47 of teams with a total of 188 shooters participated in the sporting-clay-style tournament across 12 stations that tested their skills with real-world hunting scenarios. Awards were given to top shooters in youth and open divisions. The winning team in the open division received $100 for each shooter and shotgun shell pouch. […]
OKFB to host public meeting on private property rights in Lincoln County
Oklahoma Farm Bureau is set to host the first of several public meetings on private property rights Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 6-8 p.m. at the Lincoln County fairgrounds in Chandler. The educational meeting will focus on the importance of private property rights in Oklahoma – a longstanding priority issue for Farm Bureau members. The push comes as recent wind farm developments in Oklahoma have stirred many residents to call for zoning and land-use restrictions, which have the potential to significantly affect family farmers and ranchers.
