OKFB President Tom Buchanan responds to compelling state interest claims

Sept. 20, 2016 – Groups in opposition to State Question 777 used comments by Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Tom Buchanan out of context in order to misguide Oklahoma voters. Buchanan praises Water Resources Development Act of 2016

The U.S. Senate today passed the Water Resources Development Act of 2016, which gives support to ports and inland waterways, drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, drought technologies and more. OKFB to host “Get on Tap with 777” in Norman

Oklahoma Farm Bureau is set to host “Get on Tap with 777” September 22 at 5:30 p.m. at McNellie’s Abner Ale House in Norman. At the event, participants will have the opportunity to learn more about State Question 777, or the Right to Farm bill. Guests will enjoy free drinks and appetizers. The bill is a state constitutional amendment to protect Oklahoma’s farmers and ranchers by creating additional constitutional protections they currently lack and need. Three OKFB candidates win primary runoff election

August 24, 2016

Three candidates with Oklahoma Farm Bureau ties won their respective primary runoff election on Aug. 23. Oklahoma Farm Bureau praises final passage of GMO labeling bill

The U.S. House today gave final approval to S. 764, which creates a national standard for disclosure of genetically modified food ingredients. Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Tom Buchanan issued the following statement in response.  “For decades, genetically modified crops have helped farmers produce an abundance of high-quality and affordable food, while also decreasing agriculture’s impact on the environment. Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation hosts Right to Farm training for Oklahoma Agri-Women

The Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation hosted a Right to Farm Training for the Oklahoma Agri-Women June 23 at the OKFB home office in Oklahoma City. Members of Oklahoma Agri-Women were instructed on a variety of talking points when advocating for State Question 777. The training also addressed several media tips, including social media. OKFB hosts Get on Tap with 777

Food, fun and camaraderie flowed in Bricktown as Oklahoma Farm Bureau hosted “Get on Tap with 777,” an event that showed Oklahoma City residents the need for the Right to Farm in Oklahoma. More than 100 guests attended the gathering at TapWerks Ale House Thursday, June 30, for food, drink and education about SQ 777. OKFB President Tom Buchanan praises Senate GMO labeling legislation

Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Tom Buchanan issued the following statement in support of U.S. Senate proposed legislation to create a uniform, national standard for GMO labeling. “Genetically modified crops have allowed farmers to significantly increase the quality of food and fiber they produce, all while using less land and fewer pesticides. This benefit is directly passed onto consumers, who enjoy the safest and most affordable food supply to date. “Across the country, individual states have passed mandatory GMO labeling laws, with Vermont being the first.
