Twelve Oklahoma teachers receive agriculture books through OKFB’s Bushels for Books

Twelve Oklahoma teachers were recently selected to receive a bushel basket of accurate agriculture books as part of Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Bushels for Books program. A collaboration between the OKFB Foundation for Agriculture and the OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee, Bushels for Books is designed to spread agriculture literacy to children around the state through providing a selection of books that accurately portray the agriculture industry. “As family farmers and ranchers, we are passionate about teaching others how their food gets to the dinner table,” said Mignon Bolay, OKFB WLC chair. “We greatly appreciate these educators who have made agriculture literacy […]

OKFB kicks off mental wellbeing series with Adrienne DeSutter

More than 50 Oklahoma Farm Bureau members and guests attended the first Cultivating Healthy Minds webinar on Friday, Aug. 11. How to Have the Conversation, the first in OKFB’s three-part mental wellness series, featured Adrienne DeSutter of Sow Hope, Grow Hope. Adrienne works with agriculture organizations and businesses to promote mental health in agriculture. Applications open for the Farm to School Garden of the Year contest hosted by OKFB WLC and ODAFF

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food and Forestry are now accepting applications for the 2023 Oklahoma Farm to School Garden of the Year contest. All public or private Pre-K through 12 schools, early childhood education facilities and alternative learning environments are encouraged to apply. The deadline to apply for the Farm to School Garden of the Year is Friday, Sept. 8, by 11:50 p.m. Applications can be found at www.okfarmtoschool.com. OKFB to host live webinar series to shed light on mental wellbeing in agriculture

Oklahoma Farm Bureau is proud to launch the Cultivating Healthy Minds program webinar series to bring awareness to mental health in Oklahoma’s agriculture community. The program includes three live webinars, each featuring a speaker with expertise in promoting positive mental wellbeing in Oklahomans and the agriculture industry. The webinars will be held at noon on the Friday following the first full week of the months of August, September and October. Bushels for Books applications due June 15

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee and Oklahoma Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture’s Bushels for Books application is now available. The program provides accurate agriculture books to schools across the state. Pre-k to eighth-grade teachers can submit an application for their grade level or a school librarian can submit an application for books that span multiple grade levels. All books available are grade level appropriate and will be chosen from the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture’s agriculture book database. OKFB women gather for 2023 OKFB WLC Conference

Oklahoma Farm Bureau women from across the state gathered for the annual Women’s Leadership Committee Conference April 21-22 at the POSTOAK Lodge in Tulsa. The more than 90 attendees had the opportunity attend breakout sessions, complete two community service projects, participate in a silent auction and hear from Lt. Gov. Matt Pinnell’s Chief of Staff Kirby Smith and OKFB Executive Director Thad Doye. Breakout session topics included wills and trusts, dam safety, the WLC Advocacy Program, drought recovery, making life accessible to all Oklahomans, agriculture health and wellness, integrating beef into diets, leadership development and yoga. WLC hosts annual Farm City Festival March 21

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee provided meals to more than 400 legislators, staff and visitors at the Oklahoma State Capitol Tuesday, March 21, during the committee’s annual Farm City Festival. Nearly 20 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership and Young Farmers and Ranchers members attended the American Farm Bureau FUSION Conference March 3-6 in Jacksonville, FL. Join fellow Oklahoma Farm Bureau women during the 2023 OKFB Women’s Leadership Committee Conference April 21-22 at POSTOAK Lodge in Tulsa.  Featuring breakout sessions, keynote speakers, community service projects and fellowship, there is sure to be something for everyone.  Child care will be available for infants to 10-year-old children. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee recognized nine outstanding farm and ranch families on Saturday, Nov. 12 during OKFB’s 81st annual meeting in Norman.
