Twelve high school seniors from across the state were recently selected to attend the Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference June 14-16. The OYLA conference is a three-day annual event hosted by Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers & Ranchers to prepare high school students for a future career in agriculture and to advance youth leadership. Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers state committee member Mindi Clark of Byron, Okla., was recently recognized as a Significant Woman in Oklahoma Agriculture by the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture, Food & Forestry and Oklahoma State University. YF&R members to visit Ardmore-area for annual conference
Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee has released a preliminary schedule of events for the group’s leadership conference July 13-15 in Ardmore. The conference will include sessions and workshops at the Holiday Inn as well as on-site tours in the Ardmore-area, including Oklahoma Steel and Wire Company, the Tishomingo National Fish Hatchery and the Sam Noble Research Institute in Ardmore. YF&R golf tournament raises funds for OKFB Legal Foundation
More than $10,000 was raised for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Legal Foundation during the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Golf Tournament on Friday, May 12 at the Silverhorn Golf Club in Oklahoma City. YF&R High School Discussion Meet to be held July 18; registration deadline is July 12
Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will hold their annual High School Discussion Meet during Oklahoma State University’s Big Three Field Days on Tuesday, July 18 at 2 p.m. in the OSU Animal Science Building in Stillwater. The contest is open to current high school students in 4-H or FFA. Each club or chapter may send one participant, who must attend a brief orientation on July 18 before the contest begins. The meet provides 4-H and FFA members throughout the state with an educational opportunity to enhance their speaking, reasoning and presentation skills all while analyzing issues in agriculture. OKFB YF&R Golf Classic to be held May 12
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will hold their 15th annual YF&R Golf Classic Friday, May 12 at SilverHorn Golf Club in Oklahoma City. The annual scramble-style tournament opens with check-in at 11:30 a.m., and golfers will tee off at 1 p.m. Several prizes will be awarded, and lunch will be provided. All proceeds from the event will be given to benefit the OKFB Legal Foundation. Registration is being accepted now through May 5 for teams and individuals. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee is now accepting applications for their annual $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who will pursue a higher degree in agriculture after graduation. Nine $1,000 scholarships, one from each OKFB state board district, will be awarded to high school seniors pursuing a career in agriculture at an Oklahoma institution of high learning as a full-time student. Bushels for Books applications due Oct. 24
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers and the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation Bushels for Books applications are now available.
