2017 OKFB YF&R scholarship winners announced

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers selected nine Oklahoma high school students to receive $1,000 scholarships to study agriculture at an institution of higher education in Oklahoma. “Agriculture plays such an important role in Oklahoma, and our Young Farmers & Ranchers committee is honored to help Oklahoma students continue their passion for agriculture,” said Travis Schnaithman, OKFB YF&R Chairman. “We hope this scholarship will help develop the next generation of agriculturalists who will go on to create the future of our industry.”  The nine students receiving 2017 YF&R scholarships are: Anna Blasdel, OKFB district one Luke Muller, OKFB […]

YF&R High School Discussion Meet to be held July 18; registration deadline is July 12

Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will hold their annual High School Discussion Meet during Oklahoma State University’s Big Three Field Days on Tuesday, July 18 at 2 p.m. in the OSU Animal Science Building in Stillwater. The contest is open to current high school students in 4-H or FFA. Each club or chapter may send one participant, who must attend a brief orientation on July 18 before the contest begins. The meet provides 4-H and FFA members throughout the state with an educational opportunity to enhance their speaking, reasoning and presentation skills all while analyzing issues in agriculture. OKFB YF&R Golf Classic to be held May 12

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will hold their 15th annual YF&R Golf Classic Friday, May 12 at SilverHorn Golf Club in Oklahoma City. The annual scramble-style tournament opens with check-in at 11:30 a.m., and golfers will tee off at 1 p.m. Several prizes will be awarded, and lunch will be provided. All proceeds from the event will be given to benefit the OKFB Legal Foundation. Registration is being accepted now through May 5 for teams and individuals. OKFB YF&R scholarship application now available

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee is now accepting applications for their annual $1,000 scholarships for high school seniors who will pursue a higher degree in agriculture after graduation. Nine $1,000 scholarships, one from each OKFB state board district, will be awarded to high school seniors pursuing a career in agriculture at an Oklahoma institution of high learning as a full-time student.  Applications must be postmarked no later than April 17, 2017. Bushels for Books applications due Oct. 24

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers and the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation Bushels for Books applications are now available. Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers & Ranchers program is looking for bright young Farm Bureau agriculturalists ages 18-35 to compete in a variety of programs for recognition for their contributions to agriculture. Applications for the YF&R competitive events, which include the Achievement Award, the Excellence in Agriculture Award, the Discussion Meet and the Charles Roff Award are due Friday, Oct. 14, 2016. OKFB YF&R host annual state fair livestock judging contest

Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers committee hosted more than 1,000 Oklahoma agriculture students at the group’s annual Oklahoma State Fair livestock judging contest held September 15 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. OKFB YF&R members visit Enid during annual conference

More than 50 young agriculturalists gathered in Enid for the two-day Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers conference July 8-9. The annual conference brought together young farmers, ranchers and agribusinesspeople ages 18-35 as attendees toured agricultural businesses, heard presentations from speakers and made connections with like-minded agriculturalists. “Our YF&R members really enjoyed the opportunity to meet with friends and learn about agriculture in the Enid area,” said Josh Emerson, OKFB YF&R state chairman. “It’s always eye-opening to tour businesses and learn about new agriculture technologies and trends.” The Friday tours included the ADM flour mill in Enid, Equity Marketing […]

Oklahoma youth attend OKFB leadership conference

Nineteen of Oklahoma’s top 20 high school seniors spent three days learning about leadership, team building and agriculture at the fifth annual Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference, June 15-17, in Oklahoma City.
