OKFB to host Legislative Leadership Conference March 6-7 in Oklahoma City

Oklahoma Farm Bureau leaders from across the state will gather in Oklahoma City March 6-7 for the annual OKFB Legislative Leadership Conference. Held at the Embassy Suites Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City, the two-day conference will feature state and federal agricultural policy updates, a reception with state leaders and lawmakers, and more. OKFB also will present its 2016 Champion Awards to nine state leaders. No registration is required to attend, but hotel rooms must be reserved by Friday, Feb. 3. Oklahoma County Farm Bureau donates $1,000 to Urban Harvest

Oklahoma County Farm Bureau recently donated $1,000 to Urban Harvest, a sustainable gardening program of the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma. Dennis Lambring, Oklahoma County Farm Bureau treasurer, visited the Regional Food Bank January 17 in Oklahoma City to deliver the donation. The Urban Harvest program includes three acres of organic gardens at the Regional Food Bank’s headquarters in southwest Oklahoma City. The program teaches children from low-income backgrounds about nutrition and gardening. Oklahoma Farm Bureau members will interact with key Trump Administration leaders, as well as Oklahoma’s Congressional delegation, during the OKFB Congressional Action Tour March 28-April 2, 2017 in Washington, D.C. With a new administration in the White House, trip attendees will have the unique opportunity to hear directly from leaders in the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Environmental Protection Agency. Courtesy of OKAgPolicy Family farmers and ranchers from across the country overwhelmingly supported the confirmation of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt as the Environmental Protection Agency administrator at the American Farm Bureau Federation Annual Meeting this week in Phoenix, Arizona. If you are planning to attend this year’s Annual KNID Agrifest in Enid Jan. 13-14, you might see a few familiar faces. Oklahoma Farm Bureau members will promote Oklahoma Farm Bureau membership and programs at the Farm Bureau booth Jan. 13-14 at the Chisholm Trail Expo Center on the Garfield County Fairgrounds. Three OKFB YF&R members to compete nationally at the AFBF Annual Convention

Three Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers members will gather in Phoenix Jan. 6-11 to compete nationally during the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 98th Annual Convention and IDEAg Trade Show. Isaac Fisher, Comanche County, will compete for the YF&R Achievement Award. Fisher concentrates on raising stocker cattle and growing wheat and cotton near the southwest Oklahoma town of Chattanooga. He also runs a custom haying business swathing and baling hay for fellow farmers and ranchers in the area. Alfalfa County Farm Bureau awards books to local schools

Alfalfa County Farm Bureau presented two local schools with baskets of accurate agriculture books last week through the Oklahoma Farming and Ranching Foundation and Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Bushels for Books program.
