Garfield County Farm Bureau members honored with YF&R Achievement Award

Travis and Rylee Schnaithman were honored with the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the organization’s 81st annual meeting in Norman. OKFB YF&R hosts record-breaking State Fair Livestock Judging Contest

A record 1,694 FFA and 4-H members participated in the 2022 Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds Sept. 15 in Oklahoma City. The contest, sponsored by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee, kicked off the festivities for the 2022 Oklahoma State Fair. Students had the opportunity to evaluate several species of livestock, including market and breeding classes of beef, sheep and swine. YF&R Shotgun Shoot raises more than $19,000 for OKFB Foundation for Ag

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee hosted their annual shotgun shoot Aug. 27 at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports in Guthrie, raising more than $19,000 to benefit the OKFB Foundation for Agriculture. The group hosted nearly 140 shooters on 34 four-person teams. The event tested shooters’ skills at stations mimicking real-life hunting scenarios. The first-place team – Hayden Hillary, Koy Davidson, Charlie Zimmerman and Cooper Davidson – and second-place team – Cody Richerds, Hunter Campbell, Clay Robertson and Nolin Marcus of Murray State College – received a cash prize. OKFB YF&R to host state fair livestock judging contest Sept. 15

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee is set to host the 2022 Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest Thursday, Sept. 15 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. The annual competition offers 4-H and FFA members the opportunity to showcase their livestock judging skills in both market and breeding classes of beef, sheep and swine. While no oral reasons will be given in the competition, participants will be asked to answer at least one set of questions. YF&R members gather in Enid for summer conference

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers hosted their annual summer conference July 29-31 in Enid. The nearly 60 Farm Bureau members ages 18-35 toured local agricultural facilities, competed in a discussion meet and networked with fellow farmers and ranchers. The weekend kicked off Friday, July 29 with dinner and tour of Schnaithman Farms near Garber, where the family primarily grows wheat and raises cattle. Members competed in friendly competitions of volleyball and cornhole while making lifelong friends. OKFB YF&R to hold annual shotgun shoot Aug. 27

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers is set to host their fourth-annual shotgun shoot August 27 at Silverleaf Shotgun Sports in Guthrie. The fundraising event will benefit the OKFB Foundation for Agriculture, which strives to connect consumers of all ages with individuals who work daily to produce their food and fiber. The shotgun shoot is a sporting clay style tournament featuring a variety of shooting stations for teams of four shooters. High school students selected to attend OYLA conference

Thirteen incoming high school seniors were recently selected to attend the 2022 Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference June 14-17. The conference, hosted by the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers, is designed to prepare high school students for a future career in agriculture and to advance leadership skills. High school students completing their junior year in 2022 are encouraged to apply for the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture conference held June 14-17 in Oklahoma City. The four-day leadership conference will include special leadership classes, exciting speakers, team building and visits to agriculture-related industries. Selected students should be among the top, well-rounded students in their class, and should have an interest in furthering their education at the post-secondary level.
