OKFB YF&R awards ten $1,000 scholarships

March 4, 2022

The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee recently awarded nine $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors and one $1,000 to a Collegiate Farm Bureau member. OKFB members attend AFBF YF&R Leadership Conference

Nearly 20 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers attended the American Farm Bureau YF&R Leadership Conference Feb. 25-28 in Louisville, Kentucky. YF&R members from all 50 states and Puerto Rico gathered to build their leadership skills, connect with like-minded agriculturalists, grow their knowledge of agriculture and learn about the agriculture industry in Kentucky. Ottawa County Farm Bureau member Alisen Anderson was appointed to serve a two-year term on the AFBF YF&R committee, where she will assist in the coordination of YF&R events, competitive events and the Harvest for All program. YF&R Legislative Day to be held Feb. 16

The OKFB Young Farmers and Ranchers committee will hold their annual legislative day Feb. 16 at the Oklahoma State Capitol. Farm Bureau members ages 18-35 are invited to join their fellow YF&R members as they work to promote agriculture and rural Oklahoma at the state Capitol and learn more about Farm Bureau policy. OKFB members attend 2022 AFBF Convention

More than 40 Oklahoma Farm Bureau members attended the 103rd American Farm Bureau Convention Jan. 7-12 in Atlanta, Georgia where they took part in general sessions, competed in Young Farmers and Ranchers competitive events, set grassroots policies and received national awards. Members set grassroots policies for 2022 OKFB’s six voting delegates discussed and voted on Farm Bureau members’ grassroots policy proposals to set AFBF’s 2022 policy. Cattle markets, governmental overreach and regulations and labor issues were some of leading issues voted on by members. OKFB member appointed to AFBF YF&R Committee

American Farm Bureau recently appointed Ottawa County Farm Bureau member Alisen Anderson to the AFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee. Anderson will serve a two-year term beginning in February 2022. The Payne County Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee was honored with the 2021 Oklahoma Farm Bureau YF&R Charles L. Will and Leslie Lewis were honored with the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Excellence in Agriculture Award at the organization’s annual meeting Nov. 6 in Norman. River and Elizabeth Mitchell were honored with the Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award at the organization’s 80th annual meeting Nov. 6 in Norman.
