Oklahoma Farm Bureau members ages 18 to 35 are invited to attend the organization’s Young Famers and Ranchers Legislative Day held Feb. 17 in Oklahoma City. The event is an opportunity for YF&R members to promote agriculture and rural Oklahoma at the state Capitol and learn more about Farm Bureau policy. Oklahoma Farm Bureau will be recognized for excellence in implementation of outstanding member programs and membership achievement during the American Farm Bureau Federation’s 101st Annual Convention Jan. 17-22 in Austin, Texas. OKFB will receive four Awards of Excellence for demonstrating outstanding achievements in the program areas of advocacy, engagement and outreach, leadership and business development, and membership value. The state organization also will be recognized with the Leader Award for exemplary financial support of the American Farm Bureau Foundation for Agriculture at convention. Farmers need USMCA now, Moesel tells Fox 25 News

OKFB describes impact of low commodity prices in The Oklahoman
Oklahoma Farm Bureau President Rodd Moesel described the dire circumstances facing many of the state’s farmers and ranchers in a story in Sunday’s edition of The Oklahoman. The story, published on the front page of the paper, explored the impact that weak commodity prices are having on agricultural producers. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Economic Research Service predicts net farm income at $92.5 billion, or 25% lower than in 2013. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership Committee recently donated gift cards and snacks to the Ronald McDonald House Charities in Oklahoma City and Tulsa. The snacks were donated by Farm Bureau women from across the state over the last few months. The contributions were a part of an effort by the American Farm Bureau Federation and other Farm Bureau organizations across the country to raise $100,000 for Ronald McDonald House Charities in honor of AFBF’s centennial. Oklahoma Farm Bureau, in partnership with the State Chamber of Oklahoma, will host a campaign management seminar on Feb. 6-7 at the organization’s headquarters in Oklahoma City for individuals considering running for public office. Candidates at local and state levels are encouraged to attend the two-day conference. From social media messaging and time management to fundraising and finance laws, seminar attendees will learn the keys to election success from grassroots campaign experts.
