Emma Jumper of Payne County was named the 2018 Young Farmers and Ranchers Discussion Meet winner on Saturday, Nov. 17 at Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s 77th Annual Meeting in Norman, Oklahoma. OKFB members elect leaders at annual meeting
Three board members were re-elected by voting delegates at Oklahoma Farm Bureau’s 77th Annual Meeting Nov. 16-18 in Norman, Oklahoma. Monte Tucker of Sweetwater, Oklahoma, was re-elected to a three-year term on the OKFB board of directors representing District Two. He will serve Farm Bureau members in Beckham, Custer, Greer, Harmon, Jackson, Kiowa, Roger Mills, Tillman and Washita counties. Members in District Five re-elected Gary Crawley of Savanna to serve a three-year term on the OKFB board of directors. The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers will host its annual discussion meet at the organization’s annual convention Nov. 16, 2018 in Norman, Oklahoma. The discussion meet is designed to replicate a committee meeting in which all participants are expected to discuss and actively contribute. Participants are evaluated on an exchange of ideas and information on a pre-determined topic in three rounds of debate-style discussion. More than 1,400 students compete in YF&R livestock judging contest
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee hosted more than 1,400 students during its annual Oklahoma State Fair livestock judging contest Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, in Oklahoma City. FFA and 4-H members in junior and senior categories judged eight categories of livestock with two classes of questions. Each year, Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers recognize members for their achievements through several awards presented at the OKFB Annual Meeting to be held Nov. 16-18, 2018 in Norman. OKFB YF&R members are encouraged to apply for the awards, due to the home office by Oct. 1. YF&R to host annual Oklahoma State Fair livestock judging contest Sept. 13
The Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers committee will host students from across the state at the group’s annual Oklahoma State Fair Livestock Judging Contest on Sept. 13 at the state fairgrounds in Oklahoma City. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. on Sept. 13 in Barn 3. The contest will begin at 10 a.m. in Barn 8. Contestants may compete on a team or as individuals. Pace Mittlestaedt of the Amber-Pocasset FFA Chapter was named the winner of the 2018 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers High School Discussion Meet held July 17 during the Oklahoma State University Big Three Field Days in Stillwater. YF&R members gather in southwest Oklahoma for summer conference
Nearly 60 young agriculturalists gathered in southwest Oklahoma to tour local farms and ag-related industries, network with fellow farmers and ranchers, hear from political candidates and more during the 2018 Oklahoma Farm Bureau Young Farmers & Ranchers Conference held July 13-15 at the Quartz Mountain Resort in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma. Twelve Oklahoma high school students recently were chosen to attend the Oklahoma Youth Leading Agriculture leadership conference to be held July 23-25 in Oklahoma City. The OYLA conference is a three-day annual event hosted by OKFB’s Young Farmers & Ranchers to prepare high school students for a future career in agriculture and to advance youth leadership.
